In October 1967 the Kaluga planetarium was opened for the public. The first Japanese instrument was replaced with a SKYMASTER planetarium from Carl Zeiss. A mid-size projector SPACEMASTER RFP has been the main projection machine for 20 years. In 2008 the refurbishment of the museum's planetarium brought a new SKYMASTER ZKP 4 combined with powerdome SPACEGATE fulldome video. More than 100,000 visitors per year proof the importance of the Kaluga Planetarium. People from different Russian cities enjoy the shows.
